prayer update 091124

Thank God that Dad's pneumonia continues to be under control, and that he’s looking less pale than before.

Talked with the attending doctor tonight. He said that the trial weaning off of dad’s drainage tube has caused his conscious level to go back down to 3 out of 15. Please pray that the doctors will find a successful alternative.

Dad’s blood pressure continues to fluctuate, but is said to be at a normal range. Please continue to pray for a strong heart for dad.

  1. Dear Tien, Patrick, & Josh,

Yes, we have been praying for him, a few times a day, since last Tuesday. We also pray for you & your other family members, that the Lord be with you in these trying hours.

  2. Uncle Benny,

Pray for your health and prompt waking:

A song of ascents. I raise my eyes toward the mountains. From where will my help come? My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth. God will not allow your foot to slip; your guardian does not sleep. Truly, the guardian of Israel never slumbers nor sleeps. The LORD is your guardian; the LORD is your shade at your righthand. By day the sun cannot harm you, nor the moon by night. The LORD will guard you from all evil, will always guard your life. The LORD will guard your coming and going both now and forever. [Psalms 121]

    In Christ,
    Angel

  3. Most don't know the conscious scale level until this week from: 【明報專訊】「格拉斯哥昏迷指數」(Glasgow Coma Scale)是醫學界普遍採用的一套評估神志標準,由英國 格拉斯哥大學兩位醫生1974年提出,主要用來評估頭部外傷者的昏迷嚴重程度,至今已延用至中風 和急性病患者等。 (http://hk.news.yahoo.com/article/091123/4/fbd3.html)

However, recent news and PET studies from Belgium look encouraging, especially because of its timely release this week which made headline news worldwide:

"Despite the importance of diagnostic accuracy, the rate of misdiagnosis of vegetative state has not substantially changed in the past 15 years," the study said. Back then, studies found that "up to 43 per cent of patients with disorders of consciousness are erroneously assigned a diagnosis of vegetative state."
